In 1997, the Gannon Center for Women and Leadership of Loyola University Chicago sponsored the creation of a collection of historical essays about Mundelein College, the last four-year womens college in Illinois. The school, founded by the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, lasted sixty one years, from 1930 to 1991.
